Intro to Jacquard weaving

In this workshop you will learn how to create a Jacquard weaving from your original drawing, image or design, using Photoshop, taught over two half days + an additional scheduled weaving time. You will also get a general overview of historical and contemporary Jacquard weaving and will weave your samples and a small on a computerized AVL Jacq3G Jacquard hand-loom. We generally work with simple black and white weaves to start. We will send you more detailed information before classes start.
Requirements: Image manipulation and some proficiency with Photoshop is required. You can use your your own laptop with some version of Photoshop, or use our older IMAC. A weaving background is helpful but not required and projects can be adapted to focus more on the design process or the weaving weaving.
Costs: $260 including materials
Individual Intro courses to Jacquard weaving
This is based on above description, but it can be tailored to the individual and allows for more weaving time; the design process can start online, to allow us to focus on weaving; this is usually taught over 2-3 days.
Costs: $300 includes materials
Refresher / Intermediate Jacquard Weaving
Usually in a one-on-one situation, with 1 or 2 hours of consultation/teaching ($40/hr) related to your specific needs + loom rental ($12/hr) and materials.
You will focus on creating your own larger woven piece using single weft or multiple wefts. Bring a few designs or images to the class and we will discuss various options. We will review and expand on the basic processes of design/image manipulation in creating a Jacquard weaving file.  You will work on your own design and will have access to an extensive library of weaves to weave samples and/or projects.
Requirements:
Intro to Jacquard weaving or previous experience with Jacquard weaving; you can work on your own laptop, if you have  Photoshop or use our IMAC.
