Intro to jacquard weaving
We are currently doing experimenting on the loom so have not scheduled any workshops; please contact us is you are interested in any workshops or help with projects.
Intro to Jacquard weaving January 2018
Saturday January 13 & Saturday January 20, 2018 12:30 - 5:30 pm
In this course you will learn how to create Jacquard weavings from your original drawings, images or designs using Photoshop. Please bring several images on a USB Drive to your first class.You will create a file using simple weave structures in black and white or black with one colour. Weaving will be done on a computerized AVL Jacq3G Jacquard loom for a small piece 24” wide x 12-16” high (60 cm x 40 cm ) We will send you more detailed information before classes start.
Requirements:
Image manipulation and proficiency with Photoshop is required and you should have your own laptop with some version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. A weaving background is helpful but not required and projects can be adapted to focus more on the design process or weaving. People will weave their own pieces outside of class time or can have them woven by a technician.
Costs: $200 (This cost includes materials) A $50.00 non-refundable fee is required which will be used towards fee for those who attend.
Refresher / Intermediate Jacquard Weaving
Saturday Feb 3, 12:30-5:30 pm
Take advantage of our wider warp. You will focus on creating your own larger woven piece using single weft or multiple weft colours. Bring a few designs or images to the class. We will review and expand on the basic processes of design/image manipulation in creating a Jacquard weaving file. You will work on your own design and will have access to an extensive library of weaves. You will weave samples in class and some of the projects and be given access to weave at a scheduled time outside class time. Your project can be up to 36” long by 32”.
Requirements:
Intro to Jacquard weaving or previous experience with Jacquard weaving; you will need access to Photoshop and a computer; arrangements can be made to have your file woven for additional costs.
Costs: $175.00 (This cost includes materials) A $50.00 non-refundable fee is required which will be used towards fee for those who attend.
