Ruth Scheuing has worked with hand-weaving Jacquard for over 20 years in her own extensive exhibition practice as well as teaching, research and writing. Our History |
TAD (The Textile Art Department) was formed in 2015 by Ruth Scheuing, Mary Lou Trinkwon and Petyna Bougie, faculty from Capilano University when the Textile Arts programs were cut. Faculty and alumni had a strong desire to continue to facilitate textile art education, research and artistic practice in Vancouver.
In October 2014 Ruth purchased the Jacq3G from Capilano University from the auction site and installed it in her Strathcona home. In 2017, we moved to the nearby MakerLabs at 780 East Cordova Street in Vancouver. Since then we have been working with the loom and connecting with the broader community in order to generate a wide interest for the possibilities for Jacquard weaving. In summer 2023, we moved the loom to the Salish Blanket Company on Granville Island |
